CKUT brings you a story on sustainability from Beijing, China. In the midst of reports of hazardous levels of pollution and unbearable traffic in northeastern Chinese city centers, a community initiative called Bamboo Bicycles Beijing is trying to start a local conversation on sustainable urban mobility. It also seeks to empower community members by offering hands-on workshops on how to build their own means of transportation – bamboo bicycles.
