On Tuesday, February 4th, a vigile was held for Alain Magloire. Alain was shot by Montreal police during a confrontation near the bus station in downtown Montreal. According to witnesses, he was holding a hammer at the time. Alain Magloire had recently ended up in the streets because of mental health issues. The people who spoke out to the crowd during the vigile were commemerating Magloire’s memory, together with the memory of many others killed by the police. Speeches focused on denouncing police brutality. CKUT’s Amelie Phillipson was at the vigile and files his report.
